When does daily texting become smothering?

I've dated a few girls and it's great we talk everyday she always wants to talk the next day then out of the blue they always seem to think I'm smothering them or I'm clingy? I don't text them repeatedly if they don't reply, I don't call them all the time, I don't ask for super detailed info on what they're doing and I don't text them way more then I was earlier. Just one day outta nowhere they act like (they don't actually say it) o my god leave me alone.
