When do 2012 primary elections take place for California State Senate and Assembly?

I am looking to get involved as a volunteer working for a candidate in my district so I am looking at a time frame for the election. Also, if anybody has any ideas on the best ways to contact ones representative besides their website if emails remain unreturned? Thank you
